Hulme Child Sexual Abuser
In a significant development in the ongoing fight against child exploitation, Thomas James Marriott, a 24-year-old man from Arundel Street, Hulme, Manchester, has admitted to a series of serious charges related to the distribution of indecent images of children and attempts to engage minors in sexual activities. The allegations against Marriott were formally acknowledged during his appearance at Chester Magistrates Court on Friday, April 22, 2022.

According to court records, the offences span a period from 2012 to 2019, highlighting a prolonged pattern of disturbing behavior. Marriott confessed to creating a total of 29 indecent images over this period. Among these, three were classified as 'category A' images, which represent the most severe level of indecency, indicating the highest degree of harm and explicitness. Additionally, he admitted to producing four images categorized as 'category B' and 22 images falling into 'category C,' the least severe but still illegal.

Furthermore, Marriott acknowledged distributing a total of 27 images, including seven of category A, four of category B, and 16 of category C. This distribution amplifies the severity of his actions, as it involves sharing highly explicit material with others, potentially increasing harm to victims and contributing to the proliferation of such content.

In a disturbing revelation, Marriott also admitted to attempting to incite a 15-year-old girl to view an image depicting sexual activity in March 2019. On the same date, he further confessed to trying to persuade or incite a 15-year-old boy to engage in sexual conduct. These actions demonstrate a clear intent to exploit and manipulate minors for sexual gratification.

Adding to the charges, Marriott pleaded guilty to deliberately attempting to communicate sexually with a person under the age of 16, a crime that underscores his predatory behavior and the risks posed to vulnerable youths.

During the court proceedings, Marriott's defense attorney, Richard Davies, noted that his client had been on bail since April 2019, following his initial admissions. The defense requested a pre-sentence report to be prepared, which is standard procedure in cases involving such grave allegations. Recognizing the seriousness of the case, magistrates decided that the matter was too significant for them to sentence and therefore adjourned the hearing to Chester Crown Court, scheduled for May 20.

Marriott was granted bail under strict conditions, including restrictions on his internet usage to prevent further access to or distribution of illegal material. Additionally, he was ordered to comply with police notification requirements, which involve regular reporting and monitoring to ensure public safety and prevent further offending.
