August 2011 Pervert pensioner who secretly filmed young girl jailed A PENSIONER has been jailed for secretly making indecent films of a young girl. Thomas Edwin Brian Holloway, aged 73, was sentenced to 18 months in prison for four charges of taking indecent photographs of a child and one charge of making an indecent photograph of a child when he appeared at Dorchester Crown Court. The court heard how the offences took place at the defendant’s property between August 4 and October 3 last year, when the girl was aged under 16. Prosecutor Jennie Rickman said there were 18 different movies of grade three, a medium level seriousness but some were duplicated, making a total of 60 movies. She added: “While she had been at the property, he had been filming what was going on.” Mitigating for Holloway, Anne Brown described the actions of Holloway as ‘caressing’. A clip from the video footage was played in open court where the young girl mentioned she was younger than 16. However Holloway, formerly of Owermoigne, told the court he had hearing problems and was unaware of her age. Giving evidence at the sentence hearing, the defendant said: “I didn’t think about how old she might be. “I knew she was post-puberty. “She smoked regularly and drank alcohol. “She wasn’t exactly a little girl.” However, prosecutor Miss Rickman said: “The fact of the matter was it didn’t matter to you whether she under 16 or not – you didn’t care.” In mitigation, Ms Brown, said: “This was a man who was finding life very lonely.” Ms Brown also described the victim as being ‘relaxed’ around the defendant. Miss Rickman told the court that Holloway pleaded guilty to the charges on February 7, 2011 but denied three charges of sexual activity with a child, one charge of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and one charge of common assault. She said the Crown Prosecution Service accepted the not guilty pleas and Judge Roger Jarvis directed a not guilty verdict was recorded on those five counts. In relation to the four counts he admitted, Judge Jarvis told Holloway: “You are now a man in your 70s and your victim was under 16 years of age. “The victim wasn’t informed that she was being videoed.” He added: “You took advantage of a girl who was vulnerable at the time. “It’s plain to me you knew she was under 16. “The least sentence I can give is 18 months immediate custody.” Holloway was also put on the Sex Offenders Register and a Sexual Offences Prevention Order was imposed.
