Bispham man jailed for 20 years for sexual offences against minors

A Bispham man named Thomas Gerrity, aged 69, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for sexual offences committed against two victims under the age of ten. The offences include three counts of assault by penetration, six counts of indecent assault, and one count of sexual assault. Gerrity was found guilty following a trial and was sentenced at Preston Crown Court to serve 20 years in jail with an additional four years on an extended licence. Detective Inspector Andrew Crook from Lancashire Constabulary praised the victims' bravery and emphasized the force's commitment to pursuing justice for victims of sexual offences. He stated, “Firstly, I want to praise his two victims, who have shown such strength and resilience throughout this process. They should be so proud of themselves for their bravery.” Crook also added, “Gerrity’s crimes are nothing short of abhorrent, and I and my team welcome the sentence handed down on him. I hope that this shows other victims of sexual offences that we will listen to you, we will investigate, and we will do all that we can to get you justice.
