THOMAS BOWDEN OF BANBURY ADMITS CHILD SEX ABUSE CHARGES IN OXFORD
In a serious development at Oxford Crown Court, Thomas Bowden, a 28-year-old resident of Oxford Road in Banbury, has pleaded guilty to multiple charges related to child sexual abuse and indecent images.The court proceedings took place on a Wednesday, during which Bowden admitted to a series of disturbing offences that have raised significant concern within the community.
Bowden faced a total of several charges, including three counts of making indecent images of children.
The evidence presented revealed that he possessed a substantial collection of illicit material, with 52 images classified under the most severe category, Category A.
In addition, he was found to have 22 images in Category B and 47 images in Category C, indicating a wide range of severity in the material he possessed.
Furthermore, Bowden admitted to possessing a prohibited image of a child, which is a serious offence under current legislation.
All these offences were committed on or before June 13, 2018, highlighting a period of ongoing criminal activity.
Beyond the possession of indecent images, Bowden also admitted to attempting to communicate sexually with a child.
Specifically, he pleaded guilty to one count of engaging in sexual communication with a minor on January 21 of the previous year, an act that underscores the gravity of his misconduct.
In addition to these charges, Bowden admitted to breaching a previously imposed sexual harm prevention order.
This order, issued at Oxford Crown Court on April 4, 2016, was designed to restrict his online activity and prevent further offences.
The breaches occurred when Bowden deleted internet history on December 6, 2017, and removed applications from his mobile phone on April 16 of the following year, actions that directly contravened the restrictions set by the court.
Following his guilty pleas, Bowden’s legal representatives requested an adjournment of sentencing proceedings to allow for the preparation of detailed reports on his case.
The court agreed to this request, and Bowden is scheduled to return for sentencing on October 14.
During the hearing, Judge Michael Gledhill QC issued a stern warning, stating that ‘all sentencing options remain open,’ indicating the seriousness with which the court is treating this case and the potential for severe penalties.
