March 2014 Pervert jailed for historic sex abuse – Indecent assault, indecency with a child, rape & kidnapping A paedophile has been jailed for 17 years for sexual offences committed in the eighties and nineties. Terrance Bedford , 71, of Market Street, Shawforth was found guilty of four counts of indecent assault, indecency with a child, four counts of rape and one charge of kidnapping. The offences came to light after one of the victims became a mother and struggled to cope with the abuse that had happened in her past. She confided in her family and after approaching the police was shocked when a second victim came forward. Speaking after the court case, she said: “It just got to the point in my life were I had a child of my own and I started to reflect on everything because I wanted the best for my own child.” At the time of his arrest Bedford was living at Platting Lane, Balderstone .
