TERENCE STURGEON-CLEGG'S REIGN OF TERROR IN IRVINE AND NORTHAMPTONSHIRE ENDS WITH 12-YEAR SENTENCE
January 2015- Last week, a 63-year-old man named Terence Sturgeon-Clegg, who served as a swimming instructor, was sentenced to 12 years in prison for sexual offenses involving six young girls.
His offenses, which occurred across more than two decades, created a climate of terror in Northamptonshire from 1964 to 1989.
Following his move to Irvine in Ayrshire in 1992, he continued to carry out abusive acts there.
An unnamed victim, due to legal confidentiality, stated it is highly probable that Sturgeon-Clegg also committed abuse in Scotland.
She explained, "He was a swim teacher in England before leaving.
He moved to Scotland about 20 years ago.
He abused a group of us from 1964 until the mid-1980s, ruining our lives.
My main concern now is that children in Scotland could have been victimized by him as well." At Oxford Crown Court last Friday, he was found guilty by a jury on 13 counts of sexual offenses and three charges of child cruelty, with all victims being under the age of 16.
The sentencing emphasizes the serious and long-lasting harm caused by his criminal actions.
