April 2004 Driver jailed for assault on boy A BUS driver who sexually assaulted a “vulnerable” young boy has been jailed for two and a half years at Worcester Crown Court. Terance Lobb, of Whittall Drive East, Birchen Coppice, Kidderminster, was cleared by a jury of two charges of raping another boy and one of indecently assaulting him. Judge David McEvoy QC discharged the jury from returning verdicts on two further rape charges on the second boy after deliberations lasting more than 10 hours. He gave the prosecution a week to decide whether to stage a retrial. Married Lobb, who had no previous convictions, was alleged by prosecutor Mark Wall to have committed offences between 1997 and 2002. The defendant maintained the boys were lying. He was found guilty of indecently assaulting a boy aged between six and eight years in a house by a 10-2 majority after a trial. The victim told the jury that he suffered from nightmares after the experience and became distressed while giving evidence. Defending, Richard Carron said: “Mr Lobb has lost his good name in the most serious circumstances. “A case like this will have a long-term effect after the prison sentence has been served,” he added. The victims were not from Lobb’s family but social services would now have to consider whether Lobb was a risk to his own children, added Mr Carron. The judge ordered Lobb to sign the sex offenders’ register indefinitely and banned him from working with children under the age of 18. He told Lobb that he had forced a vulnerable child to re-live his experiences by giving evidence.
