TAYLOR SMYTH
The victim sustained multiple facial fractures, lost four teeth, and was admitted to intensive care at Salford Royal Hospital, where she later required surgery.
Smyth's victim also suffered a fractured pelvis, a fractured knee, and a liver laceration.
The incident occurred after Smyth and his ex-partner, who had ended their four-year relationship in 2022, met up again.
Their reunion was initiated when Smyth sent her an unsolicited Snapchat message expressing a desire to reconnect as friends.
They visited the Red Lion pub in Irlams o' th' Height but were asked to leave by the landlord after spilling a drink.
The pair then returned to Smyth’s residence on Summerville Road to continue drinking.
At approximately 3:30 a.m., Smyth made a move to kiss his ex-partner.
She refused and turned away, leading to a tense atmosphere shift.
Smyth left quickly, prompting his ex to chase after him.
Smyth then got into his Vauxhall Corsa, and shortly after, he reversed over her.
He drove over her a second time as he was driving away.
After stopping briefly, Smyth exited the car, told her to stay with him, and then dragged her into his vehicle.
He returned to Summerville Road, and during this time, he admitted to his mother, 'I have run her over mum.
I'm going to go to prison.' Smyth fled the scene but was later discovered with a head injury by a passer-by along the East Lancs Road.
Smyth was sentenced to three years in prison, received a four-and-a-half-year driving ban, and was issued a 10-year restraining order after pleading guilty to causing serious injury through dangerous driving.
