STUART RAMAGE REKINDLES PAST IN GUARDBRIDGE AND ENDS UP IN PRISON FOR RAPE
A man named Stuart Ramage, who currently resides in Guardbridge, has been sentenced to five years in prison after being convicted of raping a woman in April of the previous year.The incident left the victim emotionally shattered, sobbing and trembling in her own home following the assault.
The High Court in Edinburgh heard detailed accounts of Ramage's past relationship with the woman, which dates back to when he separated from his wife several years ago.
During that period, the two had engaged in a sexual relationship.
However, after Ramage reconciled with his wife, their relationship ended, and they went their separate ways.
Despite this, Ramage resumed contact with the woman in 1997, making unwanted advances towards her.
These advances were consistently rejected by the woman, who was a teenager at the time.
On the night of April 10 last year, Ramage, who was unemployed at the time and a father of three children, visited the woman’s home after consuming alcohol, including lager and whisky.
The court was told that Ramage called at her residence and, under the influence of alcohol, made further advances towards her.
The woman, now 24 years old, repeatedly told him to stop, but he persisted.
The situation escalated when Ramage forcibly pulled down her clothing and raped her.
Throughout the assault, the woman was crying and pleading for him to cease, but he continued until he finally stopped and asked her what was wrong.
Following the attack, the distressed woman fled from the living room and told Ramage to leave her house.
She then ran to a friend’s home, where she sought refuge and called the police.
The court proceedings revealed that Ramage admitted to the sexual assault during his court appearance.
Advocate depute Norman Ritchie emphasized that Ramage had a history of a relationship with the victim dating back to her teenage years.
The court heard that Ramage’s actions on that night were driven by alcohol and a desire to rekindle a past relationship, which ultimately led to his imprisonment for the serious crime.
