PREDATORY PAEDOPHILE STUART RAINEY JAILED FOR 17 YEARS
A man has received a 17-year prison sentence for repeatedly sexually abusing a young girl.
Stuart Rainey, aged 37, committed multiple acts of rape and sexual assault against a girl of school age in the North Tyneside region.
The victim revealed the abuse after confiding in a trusted school staff member, who promptly reported it to authorities.
Rainey was questioned by police but denied the allegations.
Following an extensive investigation, he was formally charged in May 2025 with ten offences related to child sexual abuse and was found guilty at Newcastle Crown Court on May 15.
He was held in custody until sentencing on July 23, when he was sentenced to 17 years in prison, plus an extra year on extended licence.
Rainey will be on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life and was issued a 25-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Detective Constable Karen Douglas commended the victim’s courage and encouraged others who have suffered abuse to come forward.
