DALRYMPLE MAN FACES COURT OVER VOICEMAIL THREATS TO EX
A DALRYMPLE man has appeared in court for sending voicemails to his ex threatening to self-harm.Stuart Peters, of Cassillis Court, pleaded guilty to persistently making use of public electronic communications networks for the purposes of causing annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety.
He repeatedly called his ex-partner, leaving voicemails for her and sending text and media messages.
The 34-year-old appeared for sentencing at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Monday, March 24 for the offences, which took place between June 27 and 29 last year at Onthank Drive in Kilmarnock.
The court heard how the voice notes were "predominantly of him stating he would self-harm if the complainer continued to ignore him".
There was also one eight-minute voice note with Peters "stating he would self-harm if the complainer did not contact him".
His solicitor, Graeme Cunningham, said: "He has only just started another community payback order, so there are no unpaid hours to work with." "He will make quick progress to reduce the number of hours he has to work and this will increase the number available for sentencing on this offence." Sheriff Nicola Patrick responded: "The most sensible option is to defer to see if he engages with the current order." "The scale of what you were doing was certainly not nonsense.
I’m unimpressed and this is serious." Sentencing was deferred until later in the year and Peters' bail was continued.
