STUART HATCH OF PAISLEY JAILED FOR RAPE AND SEXUAL OFFENCES AT TEENAGE PARTY
In February 2013, Stuart Hatch, a 28-year-old man from Paisley, was sentenced to six years in prison for raping a teenage girl during her 14th birthday celebration.During the High Court hearing in Glasgow, Judge Lord Bannatyne stated, “These events have had an appalling effect on your rape victim.” He also described Hatch’s sexual comments towards a group of teenage girls at the party as “nasty.” The court learned that the incident occurred at the house in Paisley, Renfrewshire, where the party was held.
Hatch’s pregnant wife was present at the gathering.
It was reported that Hatch had previously made lewd remarks directed at other girls at the event.
The party took place in September, just days before the girl’s 14th birthday.
Prosecutor Shirley McKenna explained that Hatch was heard making “sexual remarks” to female guests, causing them to feel uncomfortable.
One girl described Hatch as “getting creepier and creepier,” prompting several girls to leave due to his behavior.
The victim was later found in a bedroom at the house and became aware of Hatch lying next to her.
He inappropriately touched her and ultimately raped her.
Miss McKenna told the court that the girl was “scared, but pretended to be asleep.” Following the attack, the girl fled to a friend’s house, where she was found crying hysterically.
She confided that she had been raped, leading to police involvement.
Hatch was later detained by authorities.
During questioning, he claimed that he was “cuddling” the girl at the time of the incident.
He pleaded guilty to one count of raping the girl and to a separate charge of making sexual comments to young girls at the party.
