VIOLENT CONTROL FREAK JAILED FOR TERRIFYING ATTACKS ON TWO GIRLFRIENDS

A man with a history of violence and controlling tendencies has been sentenced to seven years in prison for abusive conduct towards two different partners.

Stuart Hansen was already on bail for controlling and abusive behaviour when he committed further offences against another woman.

According to prosecutors at Newcastle Crown Court, the first victim was in a relationship with Hansen from 2022 until May 2024.

She reported that he exhibited jealousy and strict control over her clothing choices.

Hansen, aged 41 and residing on Honeysuckle Avenue in South Shields, was accused of being jealous after seeing her social media activity and accusing her of looking at other men during a holiday.

On a break at a log cabin, he became angry after viewing her social media and expressed displeasure at her following other men.

Prosecutor Estelle Chambers stated that Hansen locked her inside the cabin, and when she attempted to leave, he pushed her to the ground.

After she managed to lock him out, he threatened her, saying that if he killed her, no one would discover her body due to their remote location.

She further explained that Hansen often became aggressive during disagreements, leading to physical violence such as pulling her hair, pushing, punching, and spitting at her.

Hansen also entered her property uninvited at times or refused to leave when asked, including one incident when he threw her house key at her face, causing an injury to her eye.

She reported that he followed her while driving on multiple occasions, driving aggressively and parking outside her house to intimidate her.

In May 2023, Hansen accused her of infidelity and physically assaulted her by punching her face.

Despite occasional acts of kindness and apologies, his controlling behaviour persisted.

In July 2023, Hansen accessed her residence and appeared in her bedroom, verbally abusing her, refusing to leave, and physically assaulting her by dragging her by the hair, hitting her, biting her face and lip, and covering her mouth when she shouted for help.

After their relationship ended, a friend of the victim posted publicly warning others about Hansen.

In retaliation, Hansen threatened to involve her employer and threatened to share details on social media.

While on police bail for his actions against the first woman, Hansen started a new relationship in December 2024 and committed further offences.

Prosecutor Chambers noted that he remained jealous, controlling, and aggressive with his second partner, monitoring her phone, isolating her, and becoming distressed when she spent time with clients in her job as a hairdresser.

She recounted an incident where Hansen poured a drink over her when upset, falsely accused her of destroying a lock of her late mother’s hair, and seemed to enjoy seeing her upset.

His behavior ranged from being very nasty to affectionately seeking kisses and cuddles.

Early in their relationship, Hansen became violent at Ramside after seeing a message from a male friend, biting her lip.

On a different occasion, he demanded she be home by a certain time, and when she was late, he threw a liquid at her and dragged her around the house.

The next morning, he bit her hand.

On Father’s Day, Hansen assaulted her in her own home, punching her in the head and body, causing swelling and bruising, and later physically restraining her, leading to dizziness and additional injuries.

In a victim impact statement, she expressed feeling broken after six months of abuse, experiencing flashbacks, self-harm, and distrust toward others.

She also voiced concerns about his deeply rooted and persistent abusive behavior.

Hansen, who had eight previous convictions including violence, pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including controlling behavior, assault, strangulation, and common assault, receiving a combined sentence of seven years and two months.
