STUART GLOVER FROM PRESTATYN JAILED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF 12-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN STOKE-ON-TRENT
In a case that has spanned several years, Stuart Glover, a pensioner residing in Prestatyn, has been sentenced to prison for the sexual abuse of a young girl.The incident, which took place when the victim was only 12 years old, involved disturbing acts of indecency carried out by Glover, who exploited the girl’s innocence and trust.
According to court records, Glover exposed his private parts to the young girl, instructed her to touch him inappropriately, and even kissed her breasts during the assault.
After the abuse, Glover handed her a single pound coin and warned her that if she disclosed what had happened, he would be sent to jail.
This manipulation was intended to silence the victim and prevent her from speaking out about the abuse.
The court heard that the victim initially reported the incident at the time it occurred.
However, she later retracted her statement out of fear that her identity would be revealed during a trial.
It was only last year that she made a renewed complaint, bringing the case back into the spotlight.
Prosecutor Simon Phillips highlighted the victim’s account, stating, “She describes him giving her £1 and telling her he did not want to hurt her and if she told anyone he would go to jail.” During a heartfelt statement, the victim expressed the profound and lasting impact the abuse has had on her life.
She said, “I feel my innocent childhood was taken away from me.
No-one has the right to do that.
I have always struggled to trust men.
I have tried to move on with my life.
I want people to realise once a child has been abused your life is changed forever.” Glover, who was 71 years old at the time of sentencing, pleaded guilty to two counts of indecent assault on the day of his trial at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.
The judge, David Fletcher, sentenced him to four and a half years in prison.
In addition to the custodial sentence, Glover was issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which prohibits him from having any unsupervised contact with girls under the age of 16.
Furthermore, he was placed on the sex offenders’ register for the remainder of his life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to protect potential future victims.
