STUART ALLAN SHAMES FIFE SEX OFFENDER CAUGHT IN DUNFERMLINE LIVE ON FACEBOOK NEAR AMAZON HQ
In a disturbing incident that unfolded in Fife, Stuart Allan, a man with a troubling past, was publicly exposed as a sex offender in a dramatic confrontation that took place outside a Tesco store in Dunfermline. The incident occurred near the Amazon distribution center where Allan was employed at the time, drawing significant attention from local residents and online viewers alike.
Allan, who was 45 years old and residing on Poplar Crescent in Kirkcaldy, had been involved in illicit online activities that came to light through vigilant efforts by a paedophile hunting group known as Angels of Innocence.
The group had set up a sting operation after discovering that Allan had engaged in conversations with a woman posing as a 13-year-old girl on social media platforms such as Kik and WhatsApp.
During these exchanges, Allan sent explicit sexual images and engaged in sexualized conversations, actions that constitute serious offenses under Scottish law.
The group’s operation culminated on July 8, when they confronted Allan outside a Tesco store in Dunfermline, close to the Amazon headquarters.
The confrontation was live-streamed on Facebook, capturing a tense three-minute exchange.
During this recorded encounter, Allan repeatedly expressed remorse, apologizing to the vigilantes, while they warned him that they might use reasonable force if he attempted to flee.
The group’s actions prompted police involvement, and Allan was subsequently arrested at the scene.
Following his arrest, Allan appeared in court the next day.
His lawyer revealed that he had been overwhelmed by guilt and distress, leading him to attempt taking his own life shortly after his initial court appearance.
On July 13, just four days after his court hearing, Allan drove his vehicle into the River Tay in Newburgh, where he was living at the time.
Witnesses reported seeing a car “flying” over the edge of the town’s harbor area into the water, and Allan was rescued by a nearby boat.
This incident underscored the severity of his mental health struggles following the legal proceedings.
In court, Allan pleaded guilty to charges under the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act.
The charges included communicating with a decoy through social media, intentionally causing the decoy to view sexual images, sending sexual images himself, and engaging in sexualized conversations with what he believed to be a minor.
He admitted to attempting to communicate indecently with a child and to sending sexual images to a child.
During the hearing, his defense advocate, Jonathan Crowe, explained that Allan’s recent unemployment had led him to spend increasing amounts of time online, particularly on adult chat sites, which had a detrimental impact on his family relationships.
Crowe acknowledged that these circumstances contributed to the offending behavior and that Allan was taking responsibility for his actions.
Sentencing was handed down by Sheriff Alison McKay, who imposed a community payback order with a supervision period of three years.
The order also included conduct requirements related to Allan’s contact with children and internet use, as well as a mandate to participate in a sex offenders rehabilitation program.
Additionally, Allan was placed on the sex offenders register for three years, reflecting the seriousness of his offenses and the ongoing risk he poses to the community.
