Barrhead Sexual Abuser
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Barrhead, Stewart Henderson, aged 54, has been sentenced to prison after engaging in a series of predatory online behaviors targeting what he believed to be a young girl. The incident unfolded in July 2022, when Henderson initiated contact via the Jaumo dating application with an account operated by an adult decoy, part of an operation known as Shatter The Silence, which uses decoy profiles to catch online predators.
According to court records, the decoy account was designed to resemble a 12-year-old girl named Darcy. Henderson, believing he was communicating with a minor, sent numerous messages, including explicit photographs of himself. He also requested that the decoy move the conversation to WhatsApp, where he continued to send inappropriate messages and images. In a particularly alarming development, Henderson provided his home address and asked the decoy to send him a pair of pants for his birthday, revealing a disturbing level of predatory intent.
Following these exchanges, two individuals from the Shatter The Silence group confronted Henderson at his residence on Fenwick Drive in Barrhead. The confrontation was live-streamed on Facebook, drawing public attention to the case. Police officers arrived shortly thereafter, and after speaking with Henderson, he was cautioned but not immediately arrested at that time.
Henderson later appeared in Paisley Sheriff Court, where he admitted to sending sexually explicit messages to what he believed was a 12-year-old girl between July 20 and August 21 of the previous year. The court heard that the messages were sent both at his home and elsewhere, constituting a serious breach of trust and safety.
This incident is not Henderson’s first offense of a similar nature. In August and September 2020, he was convicted of sending explicit messages and images to an individual he believed was a 14-year-old girl, identified as Daniella, through the Elite Solo Decoys group. Over six days, Henderson persistently sent vile messages, requesting indecent photos and underwear from the decoy. Although he narrowly avoided jail at that time, the court ordered him to complete 120 hours of unpaid work and participate in a program called 'Moving Forward, Making Changes,' aimed at rehabilitating sex offenders. Additionally, Henderson was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for three years.
However, his recent actions have led to a more severe sentence. During this week’s court proceedings, Henderson was handed a 21-month prison term, reduced from an initial 28 months due to his guilty plea. The court also imposed a Sexual Offences Prevention Order for five years, which prohibits him from contacting anyone under 16 and mandates that he does not delete any internet browsing history, call logs, or text messages on any device he uses. Furthermore, Henderson will remain on the Sex Offenders Register for a decade, reflecting the seriousness of his offenses and the community’s need for ongoing protection.
