Man sentenced to 17 years in prison for catalogue of serious sexual offending

MAN SENTENCED TO 17 YEARS IN PRISON FOR CATALOGUE OF SERIOUS SEXUAL OFFENDING

On Thursday, 13 November 2025, a man was sentenced to 17 years in prison for a series of severe sexual offences against women.

Stewart Fleming, aged 31, was convicted after a trial concluded on 18 September 2025.

During his sentencing at the High Court in Glasgow, he received a minimum term of 17 years behind bars, with an additional five years on license to be served within the community.

He will be registered on the sex offenders register indefinitely.

Fleming was found guilty of six counts of rape, one count of sexual assault, and three counts of assault resulting in injury.

He was also convicted of offences under the Domestic Abuse (Scotland) Act.

All five victims were women who knew Fleming.

Detective Inspector Lyndsay Laird commented: “Fleming subjected women to some of the most appalling abuse, employing both physical violence and emotional manipulation throughout his offending.

“The police team dedicated considerable effort to gather evidence and speak with the women involved, uncovering a pattern of controlling behaviour that persisted across each relationship.

“Abusive conduct is unacceptable and harmful to healthy relationships.

We encourage anyone with concerns to come forward and report these issues—either to police or partner organizations.”
