2014: BRIERLEY HILL MAN JAILED FOR "TERRORISING" EX-PARTNER

A BRIERLEY Hill man who "terrorised" his former partner in breach of a non-molestation order before completely trashing her home has been jailed for 30 weeks.

Steven Stokes, aged 26, used a claw hammer to smash the windscreen and windows in a car belonging to a friend of his ex-girlfriend causing over £950 damage.

He then threatened to smash her mother's vehicle before going to the house they had shared where he slashed the sofa and clothing, damaged carpets and other property and stole a number of items.

At Wolverhampton Crown Court, Recorder Edward Hess told Stokes: "This all arose out of the unhappy breakdown of a relationship and the completely unacceptable way you dealt with that breakdown." "You must have made her very frightened.

You went on to terrorise her in a number of ways and you made a number of very threatening phone calls." The Recorder added: "You have forced her from her home.

She was frightened but you still went on.

Your behaviour was so serious on these occasions only custody can follow." Stokes, of Derry Street, admitted three charges of breaching the non-molestation order, two of criminal damage, also threatening to commit criminal damage and theft.
