NEWCASTLE MAN FINED FOR SHARING INTIMATE PHOTO TO CAUSE HUMILIATION
A man named Steven Stanley, aged 34, from Newbiggin Hall, has been fined after sending an "intimate picture" to a woman via Facebook.
The incident occurred in June when the woman was sitting beside her partner.
The court heard that Stanley sent the photograph with the intent to cause alarm, distress, or humiliation.
Stanley appeared at Newcastle Magistrates' Court facing a charge of sharing a photograph of a person in an intimate state intending to cause alarm, distress, or humiliation.
He pleaded guilty to the offence during the hearing, appearing without legal representation.
Stanley, who stated he wanted to "move on and forget about it" and had no prior convictions, expressed no objection to a restraining order being imposed.
Magistrates fined him £833 and ordered him to pay £200 in compensation, a £333 surcharge, and £85 costs.
Additionally, a one-year restraining order was imposed against him.
