Dumfries Sexual Abuser
In a case that has shocked the community of Dumfries, Steven Coltart, a 22-year-old man, has publicly admitted to engaging in sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 16. The incident took place in April of the previous year at the Deer Park, a well-known location within the town. Coltart, who resides on Dunlop Road in Dumfries, appeared before Dumfries Sheriff Court to face the charges and pleaded guilty to the serious offense.

Following his admission, the court took decisive action to address the gravity of the crime. Coltart was ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of five years, a measure designed to monitor and prevent further offenses. Additionally, he was subjected to a community payback order, which mandated him to complete 300 hours of unpaid work within the community. The court also imposed a strict curfew, restricting Coltart to his home between 7pm and 7am for a duration of 12 months, aiming to limit his movements and reduce any potential risk to the public.

Further complicating his legal situation, Coltart admitted to breaching a bail condition that prohibited him from possessing a mobile phone capable of internet access. This breach indicates a disregard for the restrictions placed upon him during the legal process. Moreover, Coltart faced additional penalties for his conduct in August, when he was caught driving on the Whitesands while disqualified and operating a vehicle without insurance. As a result, he was banned from driving for eight months, a penalty intended to serve as a deterrent and uphold road safety laws.

These legal actions reflect the serious nature of Coltart’s offenses and the judicial system’s response to protect vulnerable members of the community, especially minors. The case has garnered significant attention within Dumfries, highlighting the importance of safeguarding young individuals and ensuring offenders are held accountable for their actions.
