EDINBURGH SEX OFFENDER STEVEN AULD PLEADS GUILTY TO REPEATED ABUSE OF TEENAGE GIRL
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Edinburgh, Steven Auld, aged 52, was found to have engaged in a series of inappropriate and sexual activities with a teenage girl over a period of four weeks in April 2023.The incidents took place within the city, where Auld’s actions included not only kissing the young victim on her lips, face, and neck but also attempting to touch her genitals over her clothing during these vile encounters.
The case came to light when a younger child, who was acquainted with the teenage girl, discovered what Auld had been doing and decided to report his behavior to the authorities.
This revelation led to a police investigation, which ultimately resulted in Auld’s arrest and subsequent court proceedings.
At Edinburgh Sheriff Court in January, Auld pleaded guilty to a charge of engaging in sexual activity with the teenage girl.
His appearance in court marked a significant step in the legal process, and he was brought back for sentencing in February.
During the sentencing hearing, the sheriff imposed a community payback order that requires Auld to undergo three years of supervision and complete 225 hours of unpaid work.
Additionally, he was placed on the sex offenders register for a period of three years.
As part of the court’s measures to prevent further misconduct, Auld was issued a strict conduct requirement.
This includes a ban from being alone in the company of children, a condition designed to protect vulnerable individuals and prevent any recurrence of similar offenses.
The sheriff also addressed breaches of bail conditions by imposing an additional 40 hours of unpaid work on Auld, emphasizing the seriousness with which the court viewed his violations.
This case highlights the importance of vigilance and community involvement in safeguarding young people from exploitation and abuse.
The authorities continue to emphasize the need for awareness and prompt reporting of suspicious behavior to prevent such heinous acts from occurring in the future.
