STEPHEN THORNALLEY OF GRIMSBY JAILED FOR SEXUALLY ABUSING YOUNG GIRL IN MARCH 2019

In March 2019, Stephen Thornalley, 47, of St Helen's Avenue in Grimsby, was sentenced to prison for a serious breach of trust involving the sexual assault of a young girl.

Thornalley pleaded guilty to six counts of sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 13.

Prosecutor Charlotte Baines told Grimsby Crown Court that Thornalley had touched the girl intimately on her upper leg.

She explained, “She felt scared while that was taking place.” The girl confided in her mother and a school friend about the incident, prompting social services and police investigation.

Judge Paul Watson QC stated, “It’s clearly sexual touching.

She made it clear that she did not like it but it was conduct that was persisted in by you over a number of months.

This was a clear and gross breach of trust.” Thornalley was sentenced to 21 months in prison.

Additionally, he was given a four-year sexual harm prevention order, a four-year restraining order, and is required to register as a sex offender for 10 years.
