MAN JAILED FOR RAPE
A man from Merthyr has received a 15-year prison term after being convicted of a historic sexual assault involving a girl under the age of 16.
Stephen Thomas, aged 51, from Merthyr, engaged in repeated attacks on the victim over a span of five years.
In May, he was found guilty of one count of raping a girl under 16 and seven counts of assaulting a girl under 13.
Thomas was sentenced during a court hearing at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court on Friday, June 5.
In addition to his prison term, he was issued a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO), prohibiting any unsupervised contact with females under 16.
