Thame Hazlemere Sexual Abuser
In a significant case that has sent ripples through the local communities of Hazlemere, Thame, and surrounding areas, Stephen Smith, a 77-year-old resident of Highfield Way in Hazlemere, has been formally sentenced to prison following a thorough investigation conducted by Thames Valley Police. The court proceedings, which culminated at Aylesbury Crown Court on Friday, November 1st, revealed a disturbing pattern of sexual misconduct involving minors, leading to a conviction that underscores the seriousness of these offenses.

Smith faced multiple charges, including three counts of sexual assault and one count of attempting to cause or incite the sexual exploitation of a child. After entering a guilty plea to these charges, he was sentenced to a total of two years and five months behind bars. In addition to his imprisonment, the court imposed a sexual harm prevention order to restrict his future conduct and mandated that he be registered as a sex offender for the next ten years, a measure designed to protect the community from potential future harm.

The criminal acts for which Smith was convicted span over a period of time and involve different victims. The first incidents took place in July 2018, when Smith sexually assaulted two boys, one aged 16 and the other 17. The assaults involved inappropriate touching, and during the incident involving the 16-year-old, Smith went further by offering money in exchange for sexual favors. He also instructed the boy not to disclose the abuse to his parents, an attempt to conceal his misconduct. These offenses occurred in the areas of Hughenden Valley and Great Missenden, both located within Buckinghamshire.

Further allegations emerged in May 2019, when Smith sexually assaulted another 17-year-old boy in Thame, Oxfordshire. This incident also involved inappropriate touching. The charges related to these offenses were formally brought against him in January and May of this year, following a detailed investigation by law enforcement authorities. The case highlights the disturbing pattern of predatory behavior exhibited by Smith over a span of several years, with the community now grappling with the implications of these revelations and the need for ongoing vigilance to prevent such crimes in the future.
