STEPHEN LEWIS OF MERTHYR TYDFIL SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST A CHILD

In August 2012, Stephen Lewis, a taxi driver from the Merthyr Tydfil area, was sentenced for serious sexual offences, having been described in court as a 'predatory paedophile.' He appeared at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court and pleaded guilty to raping a 13-year-old girl. Lewis received a total prison sentence of five years.

In addition to his jail term, Lewis was given several licencing conditions. He is indefinitely banned from residing at any address where individuals under 16 are present, and from seeking or being in the company of convicted sex offenders. He is also prohibited from communicating with anyone under 16 in any form.

Furthermore, Lewis may not be alone with a child under 16 unless the child's parent or guardian is present. He is barred from attending clubs where children under 16 are present and from refusing police access for monitoring visits to his home.

As part of his sentence, Lewis will be required to sign the sex offenders register for life.
