KIRKCALDY MAN DENIES BABY ABUSE AFTER 'CONFESSION' TO FRIEND
A man identified as Stephen Graham, aged 27, is facing charges relating to an assault on a three-week-old infant.Court proceedings revealed that Graham is accused of squeezing, shaking, and throwing the baby, resulting in serious injuries including a fractured skull and broken ribs.
During the trial, it was reported that Graham purportedly confided in a friend, Kevin Petrie, stating he "couldn’t believe what he had done" after what was described as a drunken night involving ecstasy use.
Petrie confirmed that Graham made this comment during a late-night conversation several months after the incident, although Graham denied being put under any pressure to confess.
Witnesses, including the mother of the child and a paediatric radiologist, described signs on the baby consistent with a violent injury.
The radiologist concluded that the injuries resembled a single violent event, although multiple incidents could not be entirely ruled out.
Graham denies intentionally squeezing, shaking, or throwing the child, and denies any involvement in the injuries that occurred between April 20 and 28, 2014.
The case will continue in court, with the trial ongoing before Sheriff Thornton and a jury.
