On the 30th of January, 2020, Stephen Best, a 36-year-old man from Glasgow, was formally sentenced to a six-year prison term at the High Court in Glasgow for serious sexual abuse offenses committed against two women. The conviction followed a detailed and extensive investigation carried out by the Domestic Abuse Investigation Unit based in Fife.
This investigation was initiated in 2017 after one of the victims came forward to report abuse that had been ongoing since 2003, spanning across the regions of Fife and Tayside.
The case gained further momentum when Best was arrested and subsequently brought to trial in 2019, culminating in his conviction.
