SOUTHWEST LONDON MAN JAILED FOR RAPE AFTER BRAVE VICTIM SPEAKS OUT
Victim’s Bravery Helps Convict Rapist Stefan Melbourne, 21, found guilty but still suspected of other sex attacks On February 12, 2014, Stefan Melbourne, aged 21, was convicted at Woolwich Crown Court for the rape of a woman in the Clapham area of southwest London.
The victim, age 28 at the time, knew Melbourne and allowed him to stay at her home on January 22, 2013, under false pretenses.
He then threatened her with violence and raped her.
Although initially too frightened to report, the victim eventually supported the prosecution, leading to Melbourne's five-year prison sentence.
He was also ordered to register as a sex offender for life.
Police believe Melbourne may have committed additional sex attacks and are encouraging other potential victims to come forward.
Detective Inspector Jim Pryde noted that Melbourne has shown himself to be calculating and violent, and praised the victim's bravery for her role in securing the conviction.
