PERVERT, 31, CAUGHT TRYING TO CHAT SEXUALLY WITH DECOYS FOR KIDS
A man named Stanislav Olah was found guilty of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child after being caught by decoys on an online platform.
He believed he was chatting with girls but was actually communicating with decoys set up to catch predators.
The North Staffordshire Justice Centre heard that Olah initiated conversations with the decoys, who posed as minors, but there was never any real involvement with children.
Prosecutor Jo Fox noted, “This was attempted communications because it was a decoy, so there was never any involvement with children, but of course he wouldn't have known that when he tried speaking with them.
The content wasn't as overly sexualised as many we see before the court, although these are never acceptable charges.” Olah, who lives in Revanth Place, Shelton, pleaded guilty to two offences of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.
His defense, provided by Sarah Bailey, stated that at the time, Olah was heavily addicted to monkey dust, consuming around £50-£60 worth daily, and was in a difficult emotional state after ending an eight-year relationship.
Bailey added that Olah had been drug-free for eight months and was eager to reintegrate into employment, with plans to return to the Czech Republic, his country of origin.
Olah expressed remorse and acknowledged he might not have known he was communicating with a decoy.
As a result, he was sentenced to an 18-month community order, including 40 rehabilitation activity requirement days and 100 hours of unpaid work, fined £114 plus £85 in costs, and was subjected to a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
