SORIN ANITEI SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT IN SLOUGH

A man who sexually assaulted a woman in woodland near Slough has been sentenced to prison. Sorin Anitei, 46, of no fixed abode, attacked a woman in her forties in the wooded area close to Slough Road on January 9. The assault resulted in the victim sustaining severe bruising and a broken nose. Anitei was arrested on January 12 and charged the following day. He pleaded guilty to one count of sexual assault by touching and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. On Wednesday, he was sentenced at Reading Crown Court to 1 year and 9 months in prison. Additionally, Anitei has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years. Thames Valley Police Detective Constable Thomas Harman, based at Slough police station, commented: "Sorin Anitei sexually assaulted and badly injured a vulnerable woman in a secluded location." He added, "I believe the serious nature of this offence is reflected in the sentence, which will also help prevent him from further offending." Harman also expressed gratitude to the members of the public who stopped to assist the victim.
