SIVAGANESHAN PARDEEP AND SHOCKING SEXUAL ASSAULT IN LONDON
A man identified as Sivaganeshan Pardeep has been sentenced to serve eight and a half years in prison after he pleaded guilty to charges of sexual assault and rape that took place at his business premises in Shipley. The incident, which occurred in West Yorkshire, garnered significant attention during the trial, especially given the disturbing nature of the evidence presented in court.
The courtroom scene was marked by distressing revelations, including CCTV footage that captured key moments of the assault.
According to court reports, the footage showed Pardeep moving around his premises without his trousers, an indication of the prolonged and invasive attack he committed against the young woman.
On the night in question, Pardeep, who was also under the influence of alcohol, engaged in a spectrum of sexual offenses against the victim, whose identity must remain confidential for legal reasons.
During the proceedings, the Crown Court in Bradford heard that Pardeep’s victim had been manipulated into a vulnerable state by a combination of alcohol and his actions.
Evidence demonstrated that Pardeep had offered the woman alcohol to drink, which appeared to have impaired her judgment.
Some parts of the assault, including attempts to form sexual contact, were captured on CCTV, and at one point, the victim was seen attempting to defend herself with a knife.
She eventually dropped the weapon and collapsed onto the floor in distress.
Pardeep, who is 37 years old and resides in Barnard Gardens, New Malden, London, has no previous criminal convictions.
Despite his claims of amnesia and denial of sexual contact even after viewing the CCTV footage, he ultimately admitted to the offences less than two weeks before his trial was to commence.
In January, Pardeep indicated his intention to plead guilty to the charges of rape and two counts of sexual assault, acknowledging responsibility for his actions.
The judge, Andrew Hatton, detailed the disturbing sequence of events.
He explained that the young woman, who could not be named publicly, began to feel drowsy shortly after consuming alcohol supplied by Pardeep.
Over the following two to three hours, while she was nearly unconscious and under the influence of the alcohol, Pardeep engaged in multiple sexual acts with her.
The court also heard that at one stage, the victim was crying, feeling faint, and attempting to resist Pardeep’s advances.
At one point, he removed her underwear, and she was heard screaming and expressing difficulty in breathing.
Throughout the ordeal, Pardeep was reported to have physically manipulated the woman’s body while she was intoxicated or unwell.
Despite the severity of his actions, after the assault, he offered to take her home, but she fled the premises and reported the incident to authorities.
Pardeep denied any sexual contact following his arrest, but his defense lawyer, Gillian Batts, confirmed that he accepted the scientific evidence and CCTV footage presented in court.
She added that Pardeep expressed remorse for his conduct.
Judge Hatton emphasized the nature of the crime as both prolonged and sustained, highlighting the vulnerability of the victim.
He stated, “Your victim was particularly vulnerable due to the fact that you had plied her with alcohol and it was apparent to you the impact that the alcohol had had upon her.” The court also took into account a personal statement from the victim, which underscored the profound and lasting impact the experience had on her mental and emotional well-being.
In sentencing, the judge made clear that Pardeep will now be subject to the lifelong requirement to register as a sex offender, reflecting the seriousness of the offences committed in London.
The sentence serves as a stark reminder of the profound consequences of such criminal behavior, emphasizing both the need for justice and the importance of protecting vulnerable individuals from harm.
