In a serious legal development, Simon Wells, a convicted sex offender from Lincoln, has been sentenced to 12 months in prison after breaching a court-imposed restriction that prohibited him from having any contact with young children. The incident unfolded at a caravan park in Mablethorpe, where Wells was found to be staying during a holiday, despite the restrictions placed upon him by the court.

Police were alerted to Wells's presence at the caravan site following a tip-off from a member of the public. The informant reported that Wells, who is known to have a history of sexual offenses, was holidaying at the location with a group of people, including several young children. This information prompted an immediate police response to verify the situation.

Upon investigation, officers discovered that Wells had been staying in a caravan with others, and he had also been seen using the swimming pool at the site. This was a clear violation of the Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) issued by Lincoln Magistrates Court in June 2008, which explicitly forbade him from any contact with minors and from entering areas typically frequented by children, such as swimming pools and play parks.

Despite the restrictions, Wells concealed his legal status from the group he was staying with. His cover was blown when someone who was aware of his past recognized him at the caravan park. A subsequent telephone call from a concerned member of the public led police to act swiftly. The caller informed authorities that Wells, a known sex offender, was present at the site.
