SIMON PYRAH OF KIDDERMINSTER JAILED FOR SEXUAL ACTIVITY WITH 14-YEAR-OLD IN WORCESTER
In February 2014, Simon Pyrah, a 31-year-old father of three from Kidderminster, was sentenced to 18 months in prison at Worcester Crown Court after being found guilty of engaging in sexual activity with a 14-year-old girl.Pyrah pleaded guilty to charges of sexual activity with a child and possessing cannabis.
Prosecutor Lee Egan stated that the girl’s mother contacted police after discovering her daughter missing from her bedroom on December 8 of the previous year.
Police officers responded to Pyrah’s residence, where they found the girl had watched a DVD before taking part in sexual play with Pyrah.
During the investigation, officers also discovered a white container holding herbal cannabis valued between £800 and £1,000.
It was noted that Pyrah was a cannabis user and that the seized supply was likely his own, intended for personal use rather than sale.
Defence solicitor Jason Aris described Pyrah as a hardworking individual who had recently secured full-time employment manufacturing fence panels.
He also mentioned that Pyrah was a single parent to three daughters under the age of 11.
The probation service assessed Pyrah as a low risk of re-offending.
Judge Michael Cullum commented on the case, stating that it was no mitigation to suggest that the girl initiated the sexual activity.
Although the encounter was her idea, the judge emphasized that Pyrah had the choice not to admit her into his house and had been weak in his decision to do so.
As part of his sentence, Pyrah is required to sign the sex offender register for ten years.
