Devizes Market Lavington Sexual Abuser
In a serious development at Salisbury Crown Court, 53-year-old Simon Mallett, a resident of Watts Way in Market Lavington, has been implicated in a disturbing case involving the possession and creation of child pornography. The charges against Mallett, which could potentially lead to a prison sentence, stem from activities that took place over a period spanning from September 16, 2007, to April 22 of the following year.

During the court proceedings last Thursday, Mallett admitted to seven separate charges. These charges include the possession of a significant collection of indecent photographs and videos of children, totaling 410 items. Additionally, he faced six counts related to the production of indecent images of minors. The offences are alleged to have occurred within the town of Devizes, raising concerns about the safety and well-being of children in the area.

The prosecution did not present a detailed case during the hearing, and Judge Andrew Barnett agreed to a request from Mallett’s defence lawyer, Marcus Tregilgas-Davey, to postpone sentencing. This adjournment will allow for the preparation of a pre-sentence report, which will help determine the appropriate punishment for Mallett’s actions.

At the hearing, Mallett appeared dressed in a dark suit, complemented by a white shirt and a striped tie. He was released on bail under strict conditions, including a prohibition on having any unsupervised contact with individuals under the age of 18. Furthermore, he is required to register on the Sex Offenders’ Register, a measure aimed at monitoring his activities and ensuring public safety.

Judge Barnett addressed Mallett directly, stating, “You have had the good sense of pleading guilty of possession and making indecent photographs of children.” The case continues to develop as authorities seek to address the severity of the allegations and the potential consequences for Mallett’s future.
