SIMON CUTTS CAUGHT IN MANSFIELD WITH CHILD ABUSE IMAGES AND VIDEOS

In a disturbing case that has shocked the Mansfield community, Simon Cutts, a 26-year-old resident of Mansfield Woodhouse, was found to be in possession of highly disturbing and illegal images depicting children as young as three years old.

The incident unfolded when police officers attempted to make contact at his residence on Cox's Lane, Mansfield Woodhouse, but received no response.

Subsequently, officers observed the defendant leaving his home in a vehicle, prompting them to stop and investigate further.

Initially, Cutts denied having any mobile device on him, claiming he panicked upon seeing the police.

However, a search of his car revealed a mobile phone containing a collection of illicit images and videos.

The device was thoroughly examined, revealing a disturbing array of content.

Among the material found were seven Category A images, which are classified as the most serious, depicting both boys and girls aged between three and twelve years old.

Additionally, there were eleven Category B videos showing children aged three to fourteen, and seven images and videos categorized as Category C, featuring boys aged seven to ten.

These materials had been downloaded between July and October of 2022.

Further investigation uncovered that an online account linked to Cutts had been actively downloading these illegal images via the Kik messaging app, a platform often used for private communication.

The police acted swiftly after receiving information about the account's activity, leading to the arrest of Cutts on November 3, 2022.

During his police interview, he admitted to possessing the images and videos, and he was candid about his sexual interest in children, a rare and troubling admission in such cases.

Cutts was brought before Nottingham Crown Court, where he pleaded guilty to possession of indecent images of children.

It was noted that he had no prior criminal convictions.

The prosecution, led by Rawaid Javed, detailed the police operation and the evidence found on the mobile device.

The court heard that officers initially attempted to contact him at his home but were unsuccessful, leading to the subsequent stop of his vehicle and the discovery of the illicit material.

Judge Julie Warburton sentenced Cutts to a three-year community order.

In her remarks, she emphasized the seriousness of his actions, stating, “People like you create a market for children to be abused.

It is not a victimless crime because further images cause further children to be abused.” She acknowledged the stress Cutts was experiencing at the time, as outlined in the pre-sentence report and his personal letter, but made it clear that this did not excuse his behavior.

The judge also mandated that he participate in a 43-day rehabilitation program aimed at preventing future offending and attend 30 sessions with probation services to address his behavior and underlying issues.

This case highlights the ongoing threat posed by individuals who seek to exploit and harm children through digital means, and the importance of law enforcement efforts to combat such heinous crimes in communities like Mansfield.
