June 2011 Sexual assault dad sent to jail ALCOHOLIC Simon Chatterley has been jailed after sexually assaulting a young child.
The 34-year-old committed the sexual assault on a boy under 13 on June 22, 2009.
Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard father-of-two Chatterley was an alcoholic who had been drinking when he carried out the attack.
Peter McCartney, mitigating, said Chatterley, who has no previous convictions, had acted out of character.
Chatterley, of no fixed address, also pleaded guilty to failing to surrender to police bail.
Judge Mark Eades jailed Chatterley for 22 months – 21 months for the sexual assault and one month consecutive for the Bail Act offence.
Chatterley, who will be on the sex offenders’ register for 10 years, will serve up to half the sentence, with 137 days on remand counting towards the term.
