SIMON CARR FROM GRIMSBY SENTENCED AFTER OFFERING YOUNG GIRL £40 FOR SEXUAL ACT IN SHOCKING INCIDENT
In August 2018, a disturbing incident unfolded in Grimsby involving Simon Carr, a 53-year-old man whose actions have left a lasting impact on a young girl. The court heard that Carr approached the girl and, in a misguided attempt to exchange money for what he described as a brief 'job,' took out two £20 notes and asked if she wanted the cash in return for approximately ten minutes of work.
The young girl, whose age was under 13, was left visibly distressed and confused as she tried to interpret Carr’s intentions.
Her initial thought was that he might be asking her to perform chores or some other simple task.
However, her confusion turned to shock when Carr explicitly asked her to perform a sexual act on him.
The girl was instantly overwhelmed with emotion, breaking down into tears as she realized the gravity of what was being asked of her.
According to the court proceedings, the girl described the incident as a 'nightmare' from which she felt she could not wake.
She expressed that within just five minutes, her entire life had been turned upside down by this traumatic experience.
Carr, during the court hearing, acknowledged the devastating consequences of his actions, recognizing the harm he had caused.
Prosecutor Jeremy Evans told Grimsby Crown Court that Carr’s actions were a clear violation of the girl’s innocence and trust.
The court was told that Carr asked her to forget what he had proposed, but she was unable to do so, clearly affected by the ordeal.
Judge Simon Jack addressed Carr directly, stating, 'I accept that this was, in effect, a moment of madness on your part.
You overstepped the mark, albeit for only a matter of seconds.
You immediately realised the folly of what you had done and how wrong it was.
You did not try to press it at all.
The offence literally lasted a matter of seconds.' In sentencing, Carr received a 15-month prison sentence, which was suspended, along with 20 days of rehabilitation.
Additionally, he was ordered to comply with a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and is required to register as a sex offender for the same period.
This case highlights the serious consequences of such predatory behavior, especially involving vulnerable minors in the community of Grimsby.
