SIMON BRADLEY FROM MUSSELBURGH SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULTS IN EAST LOTHIAN

A man aged 55, identified as Simon Bradley from Musselburgh, has been formally sentenced to serve time in prison after being found guilty of committing serious sexual offenses against two victims in the East Lothian area. The crimes, which involved the sexual assault of a woman and a teenage girl, occurred in two separate incidents, one in 2014 and the other in 2020, highlighting a disturbing pattern of predatory behavior over several years.

Bradley's sentencing took place at the High Court in Glasgow on Thursday, 3 November 2022, where he was handed an eight-year prison term. The court's decision reflects the gravity of his offenses and the impact they have had on the victims, whose bravery in coming forward was acknowledged by law enforcement officials.

Detective Inspector Benjamin Leathes, who is part of the Divisional Rape Investigation Unit, expressed his support for the victims and emphasized the importance of justice being served. He stated, “I welcome the sentencing of Bradley and our thoughts are very much with his victims, their bravery must be commended. I hope they now have closure with him being sent to jail.”

Inspector Leathes also reaffirmed the commitment of Police Scotland to combat sexual crimes and threatening behaviors within communities. He underscored the police force’s ongoing efforts to remove offenders like Bradley from society, thereby protecting the public and maintaining safety.

Furthermore, the officer took the opportunity to encourage anyone who has experienced or is currently experiencing any form of abuse or harm to come forward. He urged victims or witnesses to report such incidents either by calling 101 or anonymously through the charity Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111, emphasizing that support and confidentiality are available for those in need.
