SIMON BALL'S SHOCKING CRIMES IN LONDON: TEACHER GROOMS AND SEXUALLY ABUSES SCHOOL GIRLS
In November 2016, a disturbing case emerged involving Simon Ball, a music teacher based in Greenwich, London, who was convicted of heinous crimes involving the grooming and sexual abuse of underage girls. The case revealed a pattern of predatory behavior that spanned several years and involved multiple victims, some of whom were as young as 13 years old.
Simon Ball, aged 42, faced a court in Peterborough where he was found guilty of engaging in sexual activities while in a position of trust at a boarding school.
The court heard how he had manipulated three girls, aged between 13 and 16, grooming them over a period of time before subjecting them to sexual abuse within the school premises.
The abuse was not limited to the school grounds; it extended into private settings, including Ball’s own home.
One of the most shocking revelations during the trial was that Ball had engaged in sexual acts with a victim in a chapel and later in his bedroom.
The most notorious incident involved him having sex on his wife’s wedding dress, which was laid out on the floor of his spare room.
This act was part of what the court described as a “sex fest,” which was fueled by pornography and took place during an all-night session.
The victim recounted to police how Ball had played pornography at his house, and she described the night as a continuous sexual encounter, emphasizing the disturbing nature of the abuse.
The girl expressed her feelings of love for Ball, despite the abuse, and also revealed her jealousy when he engaged in foreplay with her friend.
She further disclosed that Ball had asked her to have sex on his wife’s wedding dress, a request she reluctantly fulfilled.
She described her feelings of hatred towards Ball’s wife, whom she resented due to her relationship with him.
The victim also recounted how Ball’s manipulative behavior extended to convincing his wife to lie to police, claiming she had thrown away her wedding dress to cover up his misconduct.
During the trial, Ball’s wife testified that she was unaware of the full extent of his actions until she found a text message from one of his students on his phone after returning home.
This discovery contributed to the breakdown of their marriage, which eventually ended after the allegations surfaced.
Following the initial investigation, Ball left his teaching position amid inquiries into his conduct.
Despite this, he received a positive reference and was subsequently employed at a school in Cambridgeshire.
However, his new employment was short-lived, as he was suspended following additional allegations of misconduct.
Ball was convicted of four counts of engaging in sexual activity while in a position of trust.
He had previously admitted to five counts of sexual activity by a person in a position of trust, along with five similar offenses at his previous school, and four counts of indecent assault.
The jury is still deliberating on four additional counts of indecent assault and one more count of engaging in sexual activity while in a position of trust, which relate to incidents between 2001 and 2004.
This case highlights the serious issues of abuse of authority and the devastating impact on victims, emphasizing the importance of vigilance and safeguarding in educational environments across London and beyond.
