SID AKBAR DUNFERMLINE SEX OFFENDER AND EQUALITY CAMPAIGNER CAUGHT IN SHOCKING INCIDENT

Sid Akbar, a well-known figure in the Scottish equality movement and a prominent TikTok influencer, has been publicly identified as a convicted serial sex offender.

Akbar, who serves as a board member at the Fife Center for Equalities and maintains a TikTok following exceeding 10,000 followers, has a troubling criminal history rooted in disturbing incidents that date back to 2005.

In 2005, Saeed Akbar, aged 55 and residing at Cameron Heights, Broomhead Drive in Dunfermline, was involved in a highly inappropriate and criminal act during a job interview.

He attempted to conduct the interview while completely naked, an act that shocked those present and led to his subsequent conviction.

The court records reveal that Akbar was sentenced to three years' probation and was required to register as a sex offender following this incident.

The details of the case, as presented in Glasgow Sheriff Court, describe how Akbar, then a manager at an interpreting and translation company, sought what he later described as “a bit of excitement.” The court heard that during the interview, Akbar left the room and returned naked, clutching a clipboard, and proceeded to speak with a female job candidate.

When she refused to participate in his bizarre request to strip, Akbar dressed himself and attempted to continue the interview as if nothing unusual had occurred.

The court was told that Akbar’s actions caused significant distress to the victim, who was understandably frightened and intimidated by his behavior.

Sheriff Brian Lockhart, presiding over the case, condemned Akbar’s conduct as “wholly unacceptable.” He noted that Akbar, now 35, had explained his actions by claiming he simply wanted “a bit of excitement,” a justification that the court found inadequate given the severity of the offense.

Further details emerged about Akbar’s personal life and the repercussions of his actions.

The sheriff highlighted that Akbar’s partner had since left him, he had lost his job, and his friends had distanced themselves from him.

The court also acknowledged the profound impact the incident had on the victim, emphasizing her extreme distress, intimidation, and fear for her safety.

Sheriff Lockhart expressed understanding of her feelings and noted that she would have been unaware of Akbar’s thoughts at the time, but her fear of being harmed in a sexual manner was real and justified.

In addition to the 2005 incident, Akbar’s criminal record includes a breach of the peace for which he pleaded guilty.

At the time of the court proceedings, he was employed at Alpha Translating and Interpreting Services in Glasgow, a company that advertised for translators.

The court heard that Akbar had arranged an interview with a woman who responded to the advertisement.

During the interview at the Glasgow office, Akbar, who was held in high regard by his employer, asked the woman if she would mind removing her clothes.

After the woman refused, Akbar attempted to restart the interview once he had dressed himself, but she fled the scene and reported the incident to police.

Initially, Akbar claimed that his actions were part of a consensual “role play” and a “tough interviewing technique,” a defense that was ultimately rejected by the court.

His lawyer, Aamer Anwar, stated that Akbar fully accepted his guilt and recognized that his behavior was a serious abuse of his position, driven by a foolish belief that the complainant was interested in him.

Sid Akbar’s case underscores the serious consequences of inappropriate and criminal conduct, even among individuals who hold influential roles in society.

His actions have not only led to legal repercussions but have also caused significant personal and professional damage, highlighting the importance of accountability and the protection of victims in such cases.
