Hyde Sexual Abuser
A care assistant at a school has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for sexually abusing a teenage boy during the 1990s. Sherley May Bond, who resides in Higham Lane, Hyde, was found guilty of six charges of indecent assault on a child under the age of 16. The abuse took place over 30 years ago when Bond was working as a care assistant. The victim came forward in 2020, reporting the misconduct to the school. Thanks to the diligent investigation by North Yorkshire Police Detective Constable Suzanne Hall and Police Staff Investigator Jim Allan, Bond was traced, interviewed, and prosecuted. Bond, now aged 66, denied all charges but was convicted and sentenced at York Crown Court. Detective Constable Hall stated, 'She abused her position, taking advantage of a child for her own gratification.' The police praised the victim's courage in coming forward and emphasized the importance of reporting such incidents regardless of how much time has passed. The police confirmed their commitment to investigating all lines of enquiry to ensure offenders are held accountable.
