SHAUN SEATON'S SHOCKING CRIMES IN REDCAR AND EAST CLEVELAND: SEX OFFENDER'S REIGN OF TERROR

Redcar Sexual Abuser
In December 2014, Shaun Seaton, a man from Redcar and Guisborough, found himself behind bars after a series of disturbing sexual assaults that shocked the local communities of East Cleveland and the surrounding areas. Seaton, aged 36 at the time, was convicted of two counts of sexual assault involving a woman and a teenage girl, incidents that left the victims distressed and violated.
His first offense occurred sometime between June 8 and June 11 of that year. The incident unfolded after a woman, seeking help with her computer, invited Seaton into her home. After he successfully repaired her laptop, she expressed her gratitude by cuddling him. It was during this moment of apparent friendliness that Seaton unexpectedly grabbed her left breast, squeezing it with his hand. The woman was taken aback and reported the assault to the police in October, just a day before Seaton voluntarily surrendered himself. During police interviews, Seaton admitted to the assault, claiming he could not help himself.
The second incident took place on the evening of September 26, when a teenage girl was visiting a friend near Seaton’s residence on Lincoln Road, Guisborough. The girl, who was outside smoking a cigarette, was approached by Seaton, who offered her a lighter. As she accepted, he moved closer and squeezed her breasts twice. The girl, visibly shaken, shouted at him, “Oh my god! You can’t do that!” Seaton then warned her not to tell anyone about what had happened. Approximately 20 minutes later, he returned to the scene to apologize for his actions. The girl and her friend were left feeling scared and violated by the encounter.
Seaton, who had previously been subject to a sexual offences prevention order in 2011 for similar offenses involving two teenage girls, was found guilty of breaching this order during his recent court proceedings. In his police interview, Seaton admitted to the offenses, expressing remorse and stating that he knew touching women was wrong but felt unable to control himself.
During the trial at Teesside Crown Court, the defense argued that Seaton was aware of the gravity of his actions, especially concerning the second victim, who was under 18. His lawyer, Andrew White, acknowledged that Seaton had misunderstood the situation and acted inappropriately, expressing his client’s shame and desire to prevent such incidents from recurring. However, the judge, Deborah Sherwin, emphasized the seriousness of the crimes and the impact on the victims. She sentenced Seaton to 12 months in prison and extended his sexual offences prevention order for an additional five years, reinforcing restrictions on his contact with minors.
Prior to these events, Seaton had a history of similar misconduct. In February 2011, he was convicted of groping two teenage girls in East Cleveland and was sentenced to a community order with supervision. During that case, he was also banned from approaching lone females in public. Despite these restrictions, Seaton continued to offend, leading to the recent convictions and harsher penalties. His actions have left a lasting scar on the victims and serve as a stark reminder of the importance of strict enforcement of sexual offences laws and prevention orders in the Redcar and East Cleveland areas.
