DOVER MAN FACES SERIOUS CHARGES FOR YEARS OF CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE AND CHILD PORNOGRAPHY
A 56-year-old Dover man has been formally charged with multiple serious crimes including statutory rape and the creation and possession of child pornography.According to police reports, Shaun S.
Mort is accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl over a span of three years, beginning when she was 14 years old in 2014.
The assaults reportedly continued until she was around 17.
The victim disclosed these details in May, leading to Mort's arrest.
Investigations revealed that Mort had installed cameras within his residence, capturing video recordings of the assaults, which he stored on his computer.
He had also made her watch these recordings.
Authorities found numerous still images and videos on his computer depicting the victim engaged in sexual acts, as well as images of juvenile victims in the nude from nudist colonies and other unidentified minors.
The criminal complaint lists charges including statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, sexual abuse of children, creating and possessing child pornography, aggravated indecent assault, corruption of minors, and indecent assault.
Mort was detained and later released on bail after posting $250,000.
The case highlights the severity of his alleged crimes and the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat child exploitation.
