Drug-dealing dad sentenced after cocaine found on baby’s dummy

A drug-dealing father, Shaun O’Driscoll, aged 29, was sentenced to jail after traces of illegal drugs were discovered on his baby daughter’s dummies. During a police investigation following his daughter’s hospitalisation, officers uncovered a flat on Rosehill Drive filled with drugs, including cannabis worth up to £55,000, cannabis resin, and cocaine. It was specified that two of the baby’s dummies were subjected to forensic examination revealing traces of cannabis, and one also contained cocaine. O’Driscoll had previously admitted to child neglect and to being involved in the supply of cannabis and cocaine.The detailed account of the offences, which took place on April 26 last year, was presented in court. O’Driscoll, who now resides on Bronie Crescent, Pitmedden, had his sentence deferred pending reports and recently appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court to face sentencing. His legal representative, Laura Gracie, highlighted his troubled background, mentioning adverse childhood experiences and his history of drug use beginning at age 13. She explained that O’Driscoll saw drug dealing as an "easy" way to make money and stated that he had since moved away from previous associates. During the court hearing, Sheriff Andrew Miller stated, "It’s clear you were involved in selling drugs because, according to what you told the social worker, that appeared to be an easy way to make money," noting there was no evidence of coercion. The court also acknowledged two prior convictions for drug supply. O’Driscoll was sentenced to 20 months in prison, and a motion by the Crown was granted to seize £16,000 in cash located at his residence.
