Bangor Domestic Abuser
A 27-year-old man named Shaun Morris from Seiriol Terrace, Bangor, was involved in an incident where he punched his girlfriend in the face while walking along Bangor High Street. This act was recorded on CCTV, showing the victim with a swollen eye and grazed nose following the assault. Morris pleaded guilty to common assault and was sentenced to a twelve-month conditional discharge by magistrates. Court chairwoman Sandra Ogden Jones commented, "We do believe this was a one-off." Morris was also ordered to pay £105 in costs. The court was told that both parties had been drinking and that the incident was a single, out-of-character act, with Morris expressing regret. The victim decided to report the matter to the police, leading to Morris's conviction. He accepted that he should not have acted as he did, and both parties lived together at the time of the incident, which was described as a "glancing blow" by the solicitor.
