STOKE-ON-TRENT MAN CAGED AFTER ADMITTING CHILD SEX OFFENCES
A man has been sentenced to more than three years in prison after admitting to child sexual offences.
Shaun Mitchell, 29, of Trent Vale, Stoke-on-Trent, received a sentence of three years and four months at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Friday, 17 April.
He admitted to six counts of sexual activity with a girl and two counts of causing or inciting a girl to engage in sexual acts during a prior hearing.
In 2024, the victim courageously came forward to report Mitchell’s misconduct.
Mitchell was arrested and answered ‘no comment’ during police questioning, but he subsequently pleaded guilty in court.
The investigation was overseen by Detective Constable Jacob Thackstone from the public protection team, who said: “I want to acknowledge the victim’s bravery in reporting what happened.
“I hope this sentencing demonstrates that all sexual offence reports, whether recent or historical, are thoroughly investigated, and those responsible will face appropriate consequences.”
