Shaun Leo Marshall Hearne, born on May 26, 1994, and residing at Isgraig, Burry Port SA16 0DE, found himself at the center of a disturbing animal cruelty case that drew the attention of local authorities and animal welfare organizations. The incident involved the neglect and mistreatment of four dogs, which were kept confined inside a white van that was heavily contaminated with feces and lacked basic necessities such as water and proper bedding.

According to court records, the RSPCA inspectors responded to reports on March 4, 2014, concerning the condition of the dogs. When they arrived at the scene, they observed that some of the animals appeared extremely thin, indicating severe malnutrition, while others seemed to be in relatively better condition. The inspectors noted the overwhelming stench of excrement emanating from the vehicle, which was so potent that it made breathing difficult and caused eye irritation.

During their initial visit, the inspectors warned Hearne that the conditions were unacceptable and urged him to relocate the animals to a more suitable environment. Hearne assured them that he would improve the situation. However, just three days later, the inspectors returned to find the same four dogs still confined in the same van, with the foul smell intensifying. This neglect prompted the authorities to involve both veterinary and police personnel to assess and seize the animals.
