SHAUN DALLISON FROM BOURNEMOUTH SENTENCED TO EIGHT YEARS FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF 14-YEAR-OLD GIRL
In a case that has shocked the Bournemouth community, Shaun Dallison, a 37-year-old man from Bournemouth, has been sentenced to eight years in prison after being convicted of sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl.The disturbing details of his crimes came to light in May of this year when authorities uncovered text messages on the victim’s phone, revealing the extent of Dallison’s misconduct.
According to court proceedings, Dallison’s abuse spanned over a period of four months, beginning in December of the previous year.
During this time, he engaged in a series of inappropriate and illegal acts involving the young girl, who was under the age of consent.
The prosecution described Dallison’s actions as “abhorrent,” emphasizing the severity and malicious nature of his conduct.
One of the most alarming aspects of the case was Dallison’s HIV-positive status.
Despite knowing his condition, he engaged in sexual activity with the teenager, using condoms but still exposing her to significant health risks.
Sadie Rizzo, representing the Crown Prosecution Service, pointed out that the victim, who was fortunate not to contract the virus, was nonetheless put at serious risk by Dallison’s reckless behavior.
She stated, “The fact that Mr Dallison is HIV positive and engaged in sexual intercourse, despite the use of condoms, I respectfully submit places her at risk.” The court heard that the young girl still harbored feelings for Dallison, which complicated her emotional state.
Her feelings of confusion and distress were highlighted during the proceedings.
Miss Rizzo referenced a statement from the victim’s mother, expressing concern over her daughter’s mental health and her apparent self-blame.
The victim, despite being a victim, reportedly did not see herself as one and continued to have feelings for Dallison, leaving her in a state of emotional turmoil.
Defense attorney Chris Gair acknowledged Dallison’s remorse, stating that his client was genuinely sorry for his actions.
Gair remarked, “He told me he deserved to have the key thrown away,” indicating Dallison’s recognition of the gravity of his crimes.
Judge John Hallow, presiding over the case, delivered the sentence after considering all evidence and circumstances.
Dallison pleaded guilty to five counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child and one count of supplying cannabis.
The judge noted that although a condom was used during the acts, the victim still faced the risk of contracting HIV and endured the emotional distress associated with testing and health concerns.
Addressing Dallison directly, Judge Hallow acknowledged his early guilty plea, stating, “Frankly the one point in your mitigation is the fact that you made a frank admission to the police at the earliest opportunity and you pleaded guilty as soon as you could.
That I accept takes courage.
Not many people in your position charged with this type of abhorrent offence would have done that.” While the judge indicated that the maximum sentence could have been 12 years, the guilty plea resulted in a reduced sentence of eight years.
Dallison will serve half of this time in custody before being released on license.
Additionally, he will be required to register as a sex offender, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his conduct in the community.
