Milton Keynes Domestic Homicide
Shane Clarke, 52 years old, has been convicted of murdering his partner, Joanne Bishop, at her residence in Milton Keynes on 29 May. In a violent assault, Clarke stabbed Ms. Bishop 28 times with a screwdriver before leaving the scene without assistance. The 39-year-old victim was found with extensive stab wounds to her torso and back but was still alive when discovered; however, she died four days later in hospital due to her injuries. Clarke only called emergency services after some delay, and during the call, his interaction with the call handler was described by police as 'horrific.' Detective Inspector Stuart Blaik of Thames Valley Police commented that Clarke showed no remorse or concern for his actions. At Oxford Crown Court, Clarke pleaded guilty to murder and received a life sentence with a minimum term of 20 years. The judge described Clarke as a violent individual who warranted such a sentence. The police classified the case as a tragic instance of domestic homicide, and Joanne Bishop's family was acknowledged to be enduring a very difficult period.
