SHAHID HUSSAIN CAUGHT IN SOUTH SHIELDS FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES AFTER ONLINE CHAT WITH TEENAGER
In March 2021, a disturbing case emerged involving Shahid Hussain, a man from South Shields, who was caught engaging in illegal online communications with a teenage girl. The incident came to light after paedophile hunters successfully tracked him down to the takeaway where he was employed, leading to his arrest and subsequent court proceedings.
Shahid Hussain, a married father of five, became the focus of police investigations after it was revealed that he had been communicating with a girl aged just 13 over social media platforms starting in January 2019.
The conversations continued over a period of ten months, during which Hussain obtained her phone number to continue their illicit exchanges via WhatsApp.
During the court hearing at Newcastle Crown Court, it was disclosed that Hussain, who claimed to be only 32 years old despite being 50, used affectionate terms such as “baby” and “sweetie” when addressing the young girl.
He repeatedly expressed a desire to meet her in person, suggesting he wanted to kiss her, even after being informed of her age.
Hussain also made explicit comments about visiting her home when her mother was not present, indicating a disturbing intent to pursue a physical meeting.
The prosecution, led by Alec Burns, detailed the extent of Hussain’s predatory behaviour.
On July 30, he sent the girl a photograph depicting a half-naked man and woman.
Later, on September 30, he asked if she would like him to send her “fancy” or “sexy” pictures, to which she responded with an “ok.” Hussain then sent her explicit photographs of females and couples, some of a sexual nature, and requested her to send similar images, which she declined, stating she did not have any.
Further evidence revealed that on September 21, Hussain sent two videos showing adult couples engaged in sexual activity.
On September 25, he sent a video of himself performing a sex act, and on October 7, he shared a photograph of his face.
These actions demonstrated a clear pattern of attempting to incite a minor into viewing and engaging in sexual activities.
Authorities involved in the case included the Guardians of the North, a group of paedophile hunters, who collaborated with Dark Justice to identify Hussain’s place of work in South Shields.
Once located, police arrested him, bringing his online predation to an end.
Hussain pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including attempting to cause a child to watch sexual activity, attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual acts, and arranging to commit a child sexual offence.
His sentencing was handed down by Judge Robert Spragg, who imposed a two-year prison sentence, suspended for two years.
The court also ordered Hussain to undergo rehabilitation, complete 150 hours of unpaid work, and register as a sex offender for ten years.
Additionally, he is subject to a sexual harm prevention order.
During his sentencing, the judge noted that Hussain described his behaviour as “madness” and claimed he never intended to meet the girl in person.
Despite this, the court’s decision reflected the seriousness of his actions and the threat posed to the safety of minors in the community.
